Twelve years ago in Eugene, OR an artsy fartsy NY grad student met a newly graduated mama from PA and fell in love. From the moment they started dating, creative sparks flew. Over time, their interests merged and Blackbird and Peacock was born.

Hope creates almost all of the items here, unless Joe joins in the fun. She stamps, screen prints, manages the shop, packages the orders, and designs new items. Some of her artwork is featured in the shop too. Although she fancies herself more of a wordsmith than visual artist, as long as Hope is creating she is happy.

Joe is the super talented artist behind the scenes, often making art that Hope turns into designs. She'll say, "make me an 8 Bit Cthulhu" and Joe will. His artwork has been shown in galleries all around the US, as well as internationally. Lately he has incorporated 3D technology into his repertoire of visual art and has been turning his designs into 3D printed objects.

They both have committed themselves to an eco-friendly lifestyle, which is reflected in the materials of many of the items they use. Nearly all of the shipping materials are earth friendly too:)
